Woah. As the band Europe once sang, it’s the final countdown. Next Wednesday 26 November we’ll be announcing the winner of Gigatown at an event in Wellington. No matter where you are, if you have access to gigatown.co.nz, you’ll be able to tune in just after 6pm to find out who the winning town is via live stream.
This week we’ve seen the written submissions and video entries for the town Plans for Gig Success uploaded for judging and voting and it’s fair to say we are impressed. Wow.
Following the trip to Chattanooga in the U.S of A, it’s clear that what your town representatives saw and learnt about how gigabit services has transformed the ‘Gig City’ has flowed through to help shape the plans. Regardless of who wins, we hope that the Plans for Gig Success will be used as a blueprint by all five competing towns so they can truly leverage the power of ultra-fast broadband.
We’re so close to announcing the Gigatown winner but before that happens there’s voting left to do. Check out all of the five finalists Plans for Gig Success describing how each town will activate the economic and social benefits of town-wide access to gigabit fibre. Watch the video and vote – you’ve got until midday, Monday 24 November to get your vote in.
We wish all five towns the best of luck. Roll on next week!
